I'm one of those annoying people that likes pretty much everything (except people. Boo on people! *waves pitchfork and flaming torch menacingly*). You know who I mean. It's that irritating bugger in the group who's constantly piping up in the middle of conversations to say things like, "What a coincidence! I love mustering cattle, too!!!!" Yeah. That's me.
Foremost, I'm a Book Worm. That is hampered greatly by not having enough money to buy all the books I'd like to, which depresses me somewhat. I could go to the library, sure, but my local is absolute shit and I wouldn't deign to spend time there. *sniff* I have my standards.
Books I absolutely obsess over include the 'Harry Potter' series by J. K. Rowling, 'The Lord Of The Rings' and 'The Hobbit' by J. R. R. Tolkien, the 'Inheritance Trilogy' by Christopher Paolini (having heard about it for a long time, I finally got the first two books for my 19th birthday and fell in love completely), the 'Vampire Chronicles' by Anne Rice, 'The Wheel Of Time' series by Robert Jordan, and the 'Discworld' series by Terry Pratchett. In case you can't quite tell (sorry if I'm being too subtle), I'm a big Fantasy Geek. It's absolutely my favourite genre in everything, books as well as movies, although I also really enjoy anything by John Marsden, the 'Tomorrow' series in particular.
I'm a great lover of music. My problem with music, however, is that I love too much of it to really name favourites. And I suck at remembering song titles and artists, so I probably couldn't name half the ones I like anyway. I'm even worse with genres; I could barely give you two songs that fit under any genre a person could name. To me, music is just music. I don't like to label it, and I love at least one song under every one in existence. So yeah, basically I just love music.
I do have a soft spot for slow, mellow songs (no, not sappy love songs), though (a few examples: 'Such Great Heights' [xx] by Iron & Wine, 'Passenger Seat' [xx] by Death Cab For Cutie, 'Lover I Don't Have To Love' [xx] by Bright Eyes, 'The Crowd' by The Cat Empire). And 60's/70's/80's classics.
Off the top of my head, some musicians whose music I enjoy: Death Cab For Cutie, Keane, Moby, The Beatles, Crowded House, The Wallflowers, Dido (her first album, anyway), Kylie Minogue, George, The Cat Empire [xx], Eminem, Maroon 5, and I'm also a big fan of pretty much all releases by the Ministry Of Sound, especially their Chillout Sessions. *scratches head* That's such an inadequate list that doesn't even begin to show my tastes, but remember what I said about sucking at remembering musician names? Yeah.
But oh, well. Yay! Music! :D
Although I must say, however yay music is, books still own the world. That's right, Kara, you heard me! BOOKS FOR THE WIN!
Hmm, what else do I love? I love really lame humour! My sister brought me up to appreciate the fine art of The Funny, so I'll laugh at pretty much anything, even if it gets me odd looks everywhere I go. I'm also as sarcastic as all get-out. I can't help it. It's a compulsion!
I love comedy and comedians, 'The Chaser's War On Everything', comedy trivia shows, 'Spicks And Specks', trivia shows, 'The Simpsons' and 'Futurama.'
I'm a Slasher. I read fanfiction for hours a day, mostly 'Harry Potter' related, and really only Harry/Snape (though Harry/Voldie is a lot of fun when written well, but sadly it's kind of rare. And haha, YES YOU HEARD ME I SAID HARRY/VOLDIE GET WITH THE PROGRAM. *amused*) since that's my "OTP" (even though I hate that term). However, I will occasionally read another 'ship if it comes highly recommended.
Recently, I have also been introduced to the 'Supernatural' fandom, and am utterly enamoured of Dean/Sam fic. So I'm a kinky bugger, sue me. Their love is epic.
I love black and white and fashion photography, photoshoots of celebrities, things that are pretty, things that are cute, and things that are cute and pretty. Such as boys! I like boys. Hot boys, yayy! A couple of choice examples: Orlando Bloom [xx] and Elijah Wood [xx]. Also, if I'm being really honest, Daniel Radcliffe. Woops. I also have an appreciation for beautiful women, but really just Liv Tyler [xx] because she has a beautiful soul as well.
I'm a Movie Buff. I love 80's movies such as 'Labyrinth' [xx] and 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' [xx] because they're just too cool for school, and I get crazy nerdy joy out of film adaptations of books on my love list back near the top of this page.
Of course, having said all that, that's barely even touching the surface of things that I love. I could go on for another fifty kilometers of page listing every band/musician I like, every song that moves me, every book I've ever read and enjoyed, and every last thing in this world that brings me joy, but really, who could be fucked?
Suffice to say, I am a Lover Of Many Things.
