You're currently viewing all blog/news updates I made here at KSCom in 2008. Updates are shown from latest to oldest.
You'll let me pretend I snuck this post in under the one month mark, right? It's only two days over! Just this once, pretty please? :D YAY! You're so nice to me!
Got a bulk 2008 Reading List update for you today!
To start, the third and fourth books in the 'Twilight' series, 'Eclipse' and 'Breaking Dawn' respectively, by Stephenie Meyer. :) As far as fluffy pretty-vampire fodder goes, this series is definitely worth the time (though I could've lived without having to suffer through the third book).
And finally, 'House' by Frank Peretti & Ted Dekker. Another book my sister bought and insisted I read! Wasn't particularly thrilled by the ending, but it was convenient enough as a time-passer.
That's all on the book worm front, but I should also mention that I revamped the 'Naomi' namelisting. It's one of my oldest fanlistings and one of the most in need of a makeover, so I'm very happy to have finally got around to it. ♥
That's all from me, but remember to drop me a line if you ever get the urge!
Two updates in one month wut! I feel faint; somebody call a doctor!
I really shouldn't exert myself like this (;), but I had an update to make to my 2008 Reading List and I didn't want to forget (as I usually do), so I struck while the iron was hot: 'New Moon' by Stephenie Meyer, sequel to the book I added in my last update. :D
Aside from that, I've finally (no, really, if you had any idea how long this has been in the making... phwoar) finished re-adding my joined fanlistings to my collective.
Although perhaps that's misleading. Ever since I put my collective on its own domain, it had been a slow process of re-adding my joined links from the old script I used (Flinx) to the new one (Enth). Since there had been something like 1,500 links on my Flinx, it was always going to take a while. But when I shifted hosts in January of '07, I accidently deleted the database the old script was using. My bad. So I had to make the decision to go through every category at TheFanlistings.Org all over again, joining and adding FLs and links, plus updating or deleting links that had moved or disappeared.
As I said, slow process.
But it's finished. Finally finished! And we round out at 1,288! Less than it used to be, since the network's been on something of a decline over the past year, but still a substantial number! Joy and rapture! Of course, that number is always going to fluctuate as I add new FLs or delete old ones, but just the fact that I only have to watch the updates feed from now on is such a relief.
Oh, and I almost forgot! I revamped the 'Labyrinth' fanlisting! Looks so much better than it used to. So glad I finally got rid of the old layout, even if it did take three years. *innocent look*
Feel free to get in touch if you need anything or just want to say ahoy!
Haha, woops, I done did it again. Not quite three months this time. Well, I suppose it could be worse. Somehow. :D
Just a short update, I'm afraid. A new addition to my 2008 Reading List today: 'Twlight' by Stephenie Meyer!
An extremely well picked birthday present from my darling Kara that I had been planning to read after the last book in 'The Wheel Of Time' series, but having been inundated with all these icons and teaser images and news segments regarding the upcoming movie, I had a rabid urge to read it one morning before going to sleep (yes, my sleeping habits are entirely questionable).
So I devoured the thing in about 7 hours flat with only a couple of short toilet breaks in between. XD
I really, really liked it, can you tell?
Anyway, that's all for now. You'll probably hear from me again soon, as I'm currently overhauling one of my fanlistings, and I'll post here when it's done. :) Ciao, guys! Remember, I always love to hear from you!
Less than a month, imagine that! I'm making progress, people. :)
I'm sure you'll be shocked to hear I have updates for my 2008 Reading List to share, too!
I was kind of a bit cheeky, though. My sister had been bugging me to read a book she'd finished, so a week or something after I finished book 10 in 'The Wheel Of Time' series by Robert Jordan, 'Crossroads Of Twilight', I figured that since I didn't have the 11th book yet, I might as well read her book, 'Jennifer Government' by Max Barry.
Both good books, certainly, but the former moreso in the latter, I would obviously say. Fantasy-genre geek that I am and all.
So anyway, rather than get my reading list page all messy, I decided to add the 10th book on its own, then the solo book, and I'll add the 11th book (bought last week!) on its own as well when I've read it (haven't started yet, but I'll get there). Sound good to you guys? Good.
Aaand that's about it, really, aside from a small bit of fanlisting collective news: went through all my fanlistings' affiliates and deleted dead links and updated moved fanlistings as necessary.
It really does seem like simple courtesy to me to notify your site affiliates when you move or close a fanlisting, but I guess that's not a widely shared sentiment (I deleted over half my collective affiliates alone! That's like 40, man!). Oh, well. My affiliates pages are sparkly and tidy now, at any rate. :D
Okay, I'm going to piss off before I break my laptop by face-plating into in my sleep-deprived state. Words always welcome.
IT'S OKAY NOBODY PANIC I'M NOT DEAD!
I've just, ah, um, been busy? XD Okay, no, not exactly. I sort of went on a break from book reading for a few months there, and so had nothing particularly interesting to update the blog with. Poor excuse, I know, but it's all I've got.
On the plus side, I now have a good dollop of stuff to tell you about re: site updates!
I finally added the following two books to my 2007 Reading List: 'Lord Of Chaos' and 'A Crown Of Swords' by Robert Jordan. Books 6 and 7 in that order of 'The Wheel Of Time' series!
However, the exciting news is that since we're no longer in 2007, I've moved last year's reading list to its own page, which can now be found here! And to break in the shiny new 2008 Reading List, books 8 and 9 from the same series mentioned above: 'The Path Of Daggers' and 'Winter's Heart'.
Now, I have actually read the 10th book, but as you'll recall, I'm adding the books in pairs to conserve space, so adding it will have to wait until I've read the 11th book as well (absolutely dying for it here).
In other internet news, I built my first fanlisting in over 2 years! It's for my closest friend, Kara, who owns her own website at words-fail.net. I love that crazy goofball, and I'm glad I didn't misplace my webdesigning mojo during my downtime, 'cause she deserves the best I could give her. ♥
Take care, my little butterflies, and remember I always love to hear from you!
